Brooksville Housing Authority Members Expected at City Council Meeting

By Staff Writer — The Brooksville Signal

Brooksville, FL — City officials have announced that two or more members of the Brooksville Housing Authority may be in attendance at the upcoming City Council meeting on Monday, October 6, 2025, at City Hall.

The notice was issued to comply with Florida’s Government-in-the-Sunshine Law, which requires transparency whenever multiple members of a governing board or authority may be present at the same public event. While no Housing Authority matters are on the official agenda, the potential for members to gather in the same setting triggers the requirement for advance disclosure.

The Brooksville City Council meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the Joseph E. Johnston Council Chambers at 201 Howell Avenue. The public is invited to attend.

The Brooksville Housing Authority oversees affordable housing programs in the community, managing properties and coordinating with state and federal housing initiatives. Its members are appointed to help ensure that residents have access to safe, affordable living options.

City leaders emphasized that the notice does not indicate any new policy decisions by the Housing Authority, but rather serves as a procedural safeguard to ensure public awareness and compliance with open government laws.
