Spring Hill, Florida — A Florida woman has been arrested after a deadly three-vehicle crash in Hernando County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The collision happened Wednesday around 4:45 p.m. at the intersection of Spring Hill Drive and Godfrey Avenue. Troopers say 31-year-old Alexes Mishel Haynes was driving a Toyota Corolla westbound in a left-turn-only lane when she attempted to turn into the path of an eastbound BMW X6.
The BMW struck the Corolla, sending it into a Jeep Renegade that was stopped at the intersection. A 50-year-old male passenger in Haynes’ vehicle was critically injured and later died at the hospital, officials said.
Haynes, who suffered serious injuries, was seen walking away from the crash site, according to investigators. She was later arrested and faces charges including leaving the scene of a crash involving death and driving with a suspended license.
The driver of the BMW, a 38-year-old woman from Brooksville, and her 10-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries. The 41-year-old woman driving the Jeep was not hurt, the patrol said.
Authorities have not released the name of the passenger who died. The case remains under investigation
